1. About this policy
This policy explains how personal information is handled when you browse this website, join the Darling List, purchase HE PAYS, DARLING products or contact support. It covers the purposes, legal bases, safeguards and choices described below.
Purchases are processed by Creem, which acts as merchant of record and contractual reseller. Creem separately controls the checkout, payment, invoicing and tax data it needs for those purposes under its own Privacy Notice.
2. Information we may handle
- Website information: IP address, browser, device, requested pages, timestamps, security events and similar technical logs.
- Order and delivery information: name, email address, product purchased, transaction identifier, payment status and delivery status received from Creem. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Support information: anything you include when contacting us, together with our replies and any relevant order details.
- Marketing preferences: your email address and consent record only if you separately choose to receive marketing.
3. Why we use it
We use personal information only where needed to:
- operate, secure and improve the website;
- deliver the digital product you purchased and confirm access;
- answer questions, solve download issues and assess valid refund or legal-rights requests;
- protect our content against fraud, unauthorized sharing and abuse;
- keep records required by law and cooperate with Creem on transactions, disputes and compliance;
- send optional marketing only where you have consented or another lawful basis applies.
4. Legal bases
Where the GDPR or similar law applies, our bases are performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests in operating and protecting the business, and consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
5. Who receives information?
We may share only the information necessary with Creem; website hosting and security providers; email or digital-delivery providers; professional advisers; and public authorities where legally required. We do not sell your personal information.
We use MailerLite to manage the Darling List, confirm subscriptions and deliver marketing emails. If you sign up, MailerLite processes your email address, subscription and confirmation status, consent records and technical information needed to operate the form and deliver messages. We may also receive email delivery and engagement reports. See MailerLite's Privacy Policy.
Signing up is optional and uses email confirmation. Buying a book does not automatically sign you up. You can withdraw your marketing consent using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.
Analytics and advertising providers

6. International transfers
Some providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we rely on an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism.
7. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for delivery, support, security, dispute handling and legal recordkeeping. Support correspondence is normally retained for up to 24 months after the last contact; transaction records may be kept longer where tax, accounting or legal rules require it.
Newsletter information is kept while your subscription is active. After you unsubscribe, we may retain the minimum consent and suppression records needed to respect your choice and address compliance requests.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
With your analytics permission, Google Analytics measures page views, product views, checkout clicks and verified purchases. With your separate marketing permission, Meta Pixel measures the same journey for advertising effectiveness. These services may receive your IP address, browser information, page address, cookie identifiers and product/order event data. We do not send your email address, name, payment details or private download links through these tags.
Our hosting and security services may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver pages, route requests and prevent abuse. Technical request logs can include the information described in section 2 even when no optional cookies are used. These operational records are separate from advertising or behavioural tracking.
The newsletter form loads MailerLite resources to validate and process signups. Requests for these resources disclose technical information, such as an IP address and browser information, to the provider. Loading the form does not subscribe you; you must submit your email address and confirm your subscription.
Optional tags stay off until you actively accept the relevant category. Use Privacy settings to accept, reject or withdraw permission at any time. We store your choice locally and use session storage to avoid repeating a verified purchase event. Google and Meta may set their own cookies after consent. Rejecting optional tracking does not affect browsing or buying. Buying a book does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
Checkout and the customer portal open on Creem's separate website. Creem manages the cookies and privacy choices on those pages under its Privacy Notice. This website's description of its own technologies does not mean that Creem's pages are cookie-free.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection, and may complain to your local data-protection authority. Send requests to hello@hepaysdarling.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
10. Adults only, security and changes
HE PAYS, DARLING products are intended for adults aged 18 or over. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet transmission is completely secure. We may update this policy when the site, providers or legal requirements change; the date above will show the latest version.
11. Data controller and contact
